. a concord deli re- opened for business today following a noro-virus outbreak. more than 40 people became ill after eating sandwiches. kron 4's reggie kumar tells us what the restaurant owner thinks happened. north park deli owner johnny kim tells me two of his workers who put the sandwiches together had the norovirus and didn't know it. kim says his workers delivered the food to bio care medical in concord. 110 people ate the sandwiches, and 45 people got sick. they complained of fever, vomitting, and dirahrea. the highly contagious virus lasts 48 hours. contra costa county department of public health, asked kim to shutdown his restaurant on tuesday, in order to scrub it from top to bottom. kim says his employees never showed any symptoms. kim says his deli passed the last health inspection, with no violations reported. in concord reggie kumar kron 4 news. super bowl is fever building. kron 4's j.r stone is in new orleans. interviewing fans ahead of the big game. and while in the big easy he happened to run into what could be 49er star quarterback colin kaepernick's biggest fans. stay with k
. >>> in overnight news, a crash in concord leaves one man with life-threatening injuries. police say he was walking across clayton road near bay lie road around 6:15 last night when a car hit him. investigators say the 52-year- old man was not in a crosswalk. he was rushed to john muir medical center. police know who hit him. an investigation is still underway. >>> copper thieves are causing big problems for bay area drivers. alex savidge has a look at -- a look at this problem. >> reporter: copper thieves could be partly to blame for that lengthy commute. they targeted metering lights here at the isabel avenue entrance to 580 here. i will show you what they did. they broke into this electrical box here and they ripped off the valuable copper wire inside and hence the metering lights at this exit/entrance have been out for the couple of weeks. caltrans says a total of 599 lights have been vandalled -- 59 lights have been vandalized. the cost, $35,000 just to repair one of those lights. it takes several months to do the replacement work. thieves are ripping out copper wire from stoplights and freewa

an apartment fire in concord this morning. kpix 5 reporter elissa harrington tells us why investigators think a fireplace was to blame. >> reporter: a scary way to wake up for a woman and two daughters, among six families rescued by firefighters when the neighbor's unit went up in flames. >> i opened my door. we live on the second floor and saw this huge fire right in front of us. >> reporter: the two alarm fire started just before 7:00 in an upstairs apartment on tioga street in concord. flames burned to the downstairs unit up to the attic. you can see the entire roof is missing. firefighters say the woman who lives here was just trying to stay warm on a chilly morning. >> this is a gas fireplace. she had issues friday night, shut it down, tried to restart it this morning because of the cold weather and the fire ignited possibly into the walls behind the fireplace. >> reporter: nobody was hurt and the flames were contained to two apartments. it's not over for residents like clark who can't go home. power was shut off for safety. >> no water, no power

a holiday weekend coming up and it won't be that chilly overnight. 43 concord, 49 san francisco and napa 41. high pressure is in the perfect spot to at offshore wind for one more day. notice there is some moisture trying to head in our direction moving from west to east. look what's happening. it's hitting the wall and being shoved way up into canada. that's because of that protective dome of high pressure literally blocking moisture, fronts, storms, rainfall from making it to the bay area. but the process of cooling us down begins on sunday. tomorrow another day right around 70 degrees. very mild outside. then high pressure begins to slide down to the south and that same dome of high pressure will give us an onshore flow. mid-60s on sunday. upper 50s for a high on monday. say good-bye to the 70s for a while. once we're finished with tomorrow, after that we are going to have a cold front, likely the first of many cold fronts, ushering in a different weather pattern. hiles in the mid-50s, scattered showers and a lot of cloud cover. so some much-needed

know on the hayward side there's fog. concord, livermore, napa, santa rosa. yesterday, it was the north bay. patchy fog but hazy and warm. mostly sunny. higher clouds. next rain, thursday, friday. next thursday, friday. although it's looking more like a colder system than a rainy system. we need the rain. if you thought where is the breeze, there has not been much. others in the east bay, have a pretty good offshore wind continuing. that for shom the offshore breeze is in place. that means the coast has really nice weather. temperatures on the lows are even warmer that morning than yesterday it will be sunny. mostly cloudy. there's some higher clouds. i think most of those day towards more central california. 30s for some. 49. redwood city, san rafael is at 41. livermore is 32. so some of those higher clouds to the south, the forecast model picks up on it a little bit. mainly about san jose south and then the fog will fall apart. there will be some but then it will go away. today, a challengey start. hazy sunshine. highs, 7 in clearlake. 70 in gilroy. sonoma is in there. st. helena warm
